Volunteers: Frequently Asked Questions
Where should I park?
See Directions and Location for more information.
What do I do when I arrive?
Please sign in at the Volunteer check-in table, which will be located in the lobby area inside Golden Hall. A nametag and further instructions will be provided to you.
Will lunch or snacks be provided?
Unfortunately, due to budget cuts we are unable to provide food and drink for Volunteers at this year’s Fair. Please bring enough food and drink to sustain you for the duration of your shift.
What if I have to cancel or change shifts?
If a conflict arises and you are no longer able to volunteer at your assigned time, please contact Rachel Scatizzi at 619.685.3032, Kathryn Quarles at 619.685.3014 or email volunteers@wrfsandiego.org. We will be happy to reschedule you for a more convenient time or locate another Volunteer to fill your assignment. We will have very limited access to email and telephone on the day of the Fair, so we kindly ask that you let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you will be unable to make it.
Can I bring my kids?
Regrettably, Volunteers cannot bring children under age 14 to the event. Children over age 14 are welcome to volunteer along with their parent. The child care services provided by the Fair are for use by Fair Participants only.
Do I have to volunteer for the whole day?
No. Volunteers may work in full-day or half-day shifts.
Can my high school student volunteer for school credit?
Yes. Certificates of completion will be available at the conclusion of each Volunteer shift.
What should I wear?
General Volunteers are strongly encouraged to wear white shirts and child care volunteers are strongly encouraged to wear blue shirts.
Do you need Volunteers who speak languages other than Spanish?
Yes. If you speak a language other than English, please note the language(s) on the Volunteer Registration Form.
